Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield
Home of the 3ID and "Rock of the Marne"

Ft. Stewart, Georgia Military Reservation is located adjacent to Hinesville, Georgia in Liberty County and ecompasses approximately 280,000 acres making it the largest military installation in the Eastern United States. Ft. Stewart is made up of parts of Liberty County, Tatnall County, Bryan County, Long County, Evans County and is 39 miles across from east to west and 19 miles from north to south. Ft. Stewart is named after Daniel Stewart, an American Revolutionary Hero from Liberty County. In 1967 after the Airforce closed its base at Hunter Field in Savannah the Army obtained it and it now known as Hunter Army Airfield. HAAF covers approximately 5400 acres and is also the home of the U.S. Coast Guard Station-Savannah, which is the largest helicopter unit in the Coast Guard. It provides the Southeast with round-the-clock search and rescue coverage of it's coastal areas.
Fort Stewart/Hinesville is an ideal place for Military Veterans to retire.
